Phillies 10, Rockies 8

Chase Utley started a little late this season.

Utley hit his third career grand slam and homered twice for the second straight day, and the Philadelphia Phillies held off the Colorado Rockies 10-8 Friday night.

Utley was in a 1-for-19 slide with no homers this season before connecting twice in Thursday's 7-6 win at Atlanta.

"It doesn't look too much different, to be honest with you," he said.

Colorado Rockies Inside Pitch

After giving up four runs and four hits in the first three innings Monday, left-hander Jeff Francis retired 10 of the final 11 batters he faced and was the winning pitcher in Colorado's 8-6 victory over Milwaukee. Seven of those 10 outs came on strikeouts, six of them swinging. The difference, Francis said, was keeping his head steadier after releasing the ball. "I tried to stay on the plate and always keep it in view," said Francis, who pitched six innings.
